Individual Therapy

Life comes at you fast!

It seems surreal. Is this really happening?

Life is changing so quickly.

You feel excited and overwhelmed at the thought of your dreams coming true.

You have a lot of decisions to make.

You just need to sort it all out.

You want to make sure you make choices to help sustain this new momentum and your new life.

For 15 years, you shared your life with your partner.

No one could tell you that the two of you weren’t soulmates.

Now, two kids, one house, two dogs, and a miscarriage later, you’re feeling guilty. It’s as though somehow you failed.

What happened?

You were totally blindsided by his decision just to pick up and leave.

Did he love me at all? Was it all a lie?

Your heart is broken into a million pieces. Your hopes and dreams for the future, shattered! You feel limp. As though life has been sucked out of you. All you can do is sob. You figure you need help to recover.

Who can I turn to?

They say, “Sticks and stones will break your bones, but words will never hurt you.”

They lied!

After 12 years of living with someone who humiliated and berated you, you know the truth. You use your newfound realizations to attempt to heal, learn, and recover.

You finally summoned the strength to escape from this physical environment of pain, but you feel like an emotional wreck.

How do you begin to rebuild your life?

I know how you feel, and I can help.

I understand the feelings you have no words to describe. I have been there too, and I know what it takes to recover from life’s devastating eruptions with greater clarity, determination, and purpose.

Every time you engage in Individual Therapy with me, you enter a confidential, safe “judgment-free zone” where you can work through what happened to you.

Therapy is intended to heal and, above all, “not harm.” Healing is a process that begins from the first time we speak on the phone to our virtual or in-person sessions. The environment is intentionally designed to be relaxed, comfortable, and safe.

Knowledge is power. I provide you with the knowledge to ensure you understand how what has happened to you shows up in your life. I walk you through the plan for healing. But we won’t stop there.

Applied knowledge is the power to heal. I help you apply what you learn in therapy to know how to stop hurting, keep yourself emotionally safe, and maintain your healing long after therapy has ended.

The decision to heal is yours.

Find the answers you seek in the deepest recesses of your heart.

My role as your therapist is to help you get there.

I understand that it may be difficult to say what happened to you at first. You may have never said it before to anyone. It may be equally difficult to allow yourself to experience feelings that have been avoided for years. With this in mind, my first goal is to develop an authentic therapeutic alliance with you. You need to know that you are not alone. And I need you to know that I cannot do it alone. You need to know that you can trust me. Once you do, sharing will be easier. You can’t heal what you don’t reveal.

As you share what hurts, we will process your related thoughts and feelings. I often use activities, handouts, journaling, and visuals to help processing occur much deeper. The repeated act of sharing and processing is your direct line to healing. It unearths unique answers that lie deep in the recesses of your heart beneath all the pain.

Like repeatedly exposing a young child to a new school environment helps build a strong immune system, repeatedly exposing and processing the pain in your life during therapy helps reduce your sensitivity to it. You will still remember it, with one distinct difference. It won’t hurt anymore! This is how healing happens in therapy.

From your first contact with me through your last, you will know what it feels like to be heard, seen, and accepted for who you are.

Where hurt ends, freedom begins.

There is help. There is healing. There is life after pain and disappointment.

It can be yours now! Are you ready to live free? Call me today: (561) 614-2266.
